Tutor Volunteer

Volunteer tutors work with assigned students to teach an adult literacy class: Basic Literacy, English as a Second Language (ESL), Basic Computer Skills, US Citizenship preparation, or GED preparation. Once trained and certified by the Literacy Council, all tutors maintain regular contact with the Program Team and report back with progress, successes, and challenges.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Must be 21 years of age or older.

POSITION DURATION: A minimum of one academic year.

POSITION LOCATION: Choose from Sugar Land, Richmond, Rosenberg or Katy locations.

Office Volunteer

Office volunteers assist volunteer tutors and staff with student enrollment, student registration, providing information on classes via phone or email, making copies, assembling student instructional materials, and greeting visitors to the Sugar Land campus.

Background Check

In order to be a volunteer with the Literacy Council of Fort Bend County, each candidate is required to have a criminal background check completed prior to beginning their service.
